When Mark Nichols decided to commission a custom-built motorhome for his family’s motorcycle racing team (NCR racing), he approached the team from Majestic Motorhomes armed with a former school bus and some great ideas.

Travelling in excess of 40,000 km per year with his wife and two sons who comprise the rest of the Nichols Racing Team (NRT), Mark wanted something that was both reliable and tailored to their needs. Of prime importance was that the vehicle could safely transport and sleep all four passengers whilst also transporting up to 3 motorcycles in the rear boot space and giving self sufficiency when it came to meal times.
Yass Toyota took care of the original under-powered diesel engine which was completely rebuilt and fitted with both a turbocharger and an inter-cooler for impressive power and reliability. The next step was to strip the vehicle back to the framework, lift the roof and creating new supportive frame for the custom fitted out. Majestic Motorhomes carried out all the work from start to finish including the roof lived, new framing, fit out, paintwork and solar system which is a specialty of the team.
Mark says it’s wonderful to have a vehicle fitted with an fully integrated inverter along with the solar system and generator for backup power.
“We just use normal appliances, no need to think about it! – Pretty much from the time we leave home to the time we return we are self-sufficient”
When Mark found the old school bus that was to become his teams headquarters on the road, it looked nothing like the end result you can see here. Several weeks work on both the body, interior and engine and the Nicolas Racing Team vehicle was born. Mark who reckons is one of the luckiest guys on the planet.

Going on the road with his wife and two youngest sons each weekend is a dream come true for Mark and three years on and over 100,000ks, the bus still looks as good as the day the motorhome conversion was completed.
